The village
Pilgrims, tourists or art lovers, you are more and more to visit Hospital Saint-Blaise. This small picturesque village of 80 inhabitants is situated in the Basque country at the historical limit with the Bearn, in the middle of woods and along the river "Le Lausset".
Houses, from the XVIth and XVIIth century, surround the church small jewel of Romanic architecture of the XIIth century. In 1888,the church is classified as Historical Monument. In 1998, it's classified on the UNESCO World Heritage in conformance with the roads of Santiago de Compostela.
Some elements of architecture are unique in France: they give a sense to this place and direct its fate. 8 centuries later, it seems well preserved. The name of the village reminds there was, near the church, a place to welcome the travelers in the XIIth century.
Today, the municipality keeps this notion of hospitality and in 2008, we opened a refuge totally equipped with 8 beds in which the pilgrims and the others walkers of the XXIth century, can stop and rest.
